Should I Consult A Doctor As I Found A Month Old Tampon Inside Me?

On jan 26 th I finished my period. On jan31 I went to the dr. Because I noticed a fowel smelling ordor coming from my vagina along with old watery like blood. The dr. Did a swab and a pap and had me go in for an ultra sound on the 4th of feb where they discovered I have fibroids. I then restarted my period on feb 16. Today I took out my tampon and hoped into the bath where I was horrified to find a month old tampon come out of me. .... what?!?!? Am I going to be ok? Do I need to go back to the dr. How did they miss this with all the tests???

You will be fine. I can't answer as to why your doctor missed this. It is not an uncommon occurrence, and as you describe, the odor can be impressive. Usually it resolves with tampon removal. A one time douche of over the counter vinegar or betadine might help to restore normal bacterial balance if the odor persists after the tampon is removed. Rarely a course of prescription antibiotics such as metronidazole is needed.
