Should I Continue Taking Norethisterone If Started With A Period?

hi i have taken norethisterone 5mg tablet when i realised i got my period. now its a dark brown colour does that mean it will stop or do i need to continue taking it. i just dont want to have my period in the next few days or if i let it be will it finish by then?
