Should I Continue With Medicines For Controlling High BP And Cholesterol?

I am a male aged 39 yrs, height 5'10", Weight 89 kgs. I am a non smoker. I do have drinks about once a week or about thrice a month.

I was diagonised with High BP about 8 months ago 146/100 & high cholesterol (about 252) & marginally high sugar about 117 (fasting) after a fortnight of drink sessions almost every alternate day. Thereby I underwent a change in my lifestyle with some drugs like Telsartan 40 & Rozat F. Subsequently, my cholesterol came in control after 3 months of drugs (155 total, HDL-39, VLDL-15, LDL-101, TG-85). BP tablets, I have continued. However, my doctor insists that I should continue with the cholestero & BP drugs. He had suggested that the treatment should continue over a period of 2 years & then taper off. I am a fitness freak and jog about 2 kms, 5 days a week. I am confident that with excercise, I would be able to bring my health back to normal. Could you please advise if my doctor is correctly advising me?
