Should I Do Hysterectomy When I Have Enlarged Uterus?

hi..I am 38 years old and have been having very irregular menstrual cycles with heavy bleeding for the last three months. The scan indicates and enlarged uterus and a thickened endometrium. The doc did a D&C and is now suggesting a keyhole hysterectomy. Is it the right thing or should we wait for some time?
