Should I Meet A Doctor After Having Blisters And Splotches On Hands After Taking Doxycycline Hylcate?

My dermatologist put me on Doxycycline hyclate. About a week ago the tops of my hands started looking very red. Now they have broken out in blisters and red splotches and are very sensitive to sunlight. Is this something that I should go see a medical doctor about?

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
Doxycycline is a drug known to cause photosensitivity and photo allergy, i.e, sunlight sensitivity and allergy to sunlight.
I would advise you to stop doxycycline.
You would benefit from a short course of oral prednisolone for 5-7 days for the drug reaction.
You could also take an antihistamine like Benadryl at bedtime for 10-15 days.
Protect yourself from direct sun exposure.
Hope this helps you.
Take care.
