Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 57 year old female, I went to the dr. the other day and my blood pressure was 150/110. She has me taking it everyday and today it was 164/110, she told me to come back in 2 weeks, She gave me medication, however, I have not had this before, when it's how high should I go to the hospital?
Dear sir/madam, there is no limit for blood pressure readings to go to hospital as people with bp of more than 180 also will not be having complaints. Same way even with a bp of 150 also patient might have complaints. Ideally If you are having complaints like headache, giddiness, blurred vision etc then you need to check the blood pressure. Currently you are in stage 2 hypertension. You definitely need to started on medicines for target bp control along with lifestyle modification like salt/fat restricted diet, weight loss, regular exercise, regular bp check up. Better to follow up with nearest physician/cardiologist.
