Should I Remove The 6.6 Cms Cyst From Ovary?

I have a 6.6cm ovarian cyst and in 1997 I had the same size of cyst on my other ovary which they removed along with my ovary and fallopian tube. The question is - would it be better for me to have this removed or is it safe enough to have it monitored? I have other health issues - awful gastric reflux and bloated stomach, post nasal drip and I have type 2 diabetes.

Hello

Your findings may suggest moderate size ovarian cyst.
Ovarian cysts may be due to both benign or malignant reasons.
Generally ovarian cysts are due to benign causes and it may require follow up ultrasound only.
Up to 3-4 cm cysts respond well and it may disappear in follow up ultrasound.

It is important to exclude malignancy.
I suggest for tumour markers like CA-125 estimation. It is a part of cancer screening.
You may only need follow up ultrasound.

Get well soon.
