Should I See A Hematologist For My Iron Levels?

Hi, I was just referred to a hematologist. My ferritin level is 4; Iron Serum 25; Iron Saturation is 8. Hemoglobin and Hematocrit are 10.4 and 33.3. Do these levels warrant additional iron supplement? And is it necessary for me to see a hematologist?

Hi there, these blood tests are suggestive of iron deficiency, I would advise my patients for iron supplementation, body needs iron even after normal hemoglobin to replenish is iron store, A hematologist can be deferred and it could be treated by a physician and he may recheck your iron levels after 2-3 months of iron supplementation.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. You can get back to me after 2-3 months with repeat iron studies.

Wishing you good health
