Should I Worry About The Pregnancy As I Have Delayed Periods With Cramping?
Hi. I quit the pills last july and my period was very irregular (i guess thats normal) till around december. From january on it was always dead on the time and came with the long forgotten period cramps that i used to have before i started the pills. Now i am 21 days late. I am having menstrual cramps but no blood. Occasional all day nausea ( 2-3 days out of 7) and sore breast. I did 3 pregnancy test a week apart from each other all came back negative. Should I worry?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. You had past history of irregualr periods ( after withdrawing OC pills.).. ,had normal ,regular periods from January onwards. Now you have period delayed by 21 days with cramps, nausea, breast soreness. All the symptoms go in favor of pregnancy. But your pregnancy test is -ve 3 times. Now this is the time for you to take active steps & find the cause of your delayed periods. For that - - Get lab pregnancy test to exclude pregnancy. - The same symptoms can be seen in conditions other than pregnancy. They are- Sever weakness, following illness, psychological stress, Hormonal imbalance due to ovarian/ thyroid problems, PCOD, fibroid uterus etc. You have to get investigated to pin point the cause & get specific treatment under guidance of a gynecologist. Thanks.
