Hello, Thank you for visiting HCM. Let me try to help you.Y ou want to know if your lipi ex 10 mg should be continued now that your cholesterol is controlled. It is a very good question and it is asked frequently. The difficulty here is that each answer will be different because each situation and person are unique.
I would want to know the rest of the numbers in the lipid profile as the total cholesterol is only part of the picture. Then there is the question of whether any permanent lifestyle changes had occured or if it was the pill keeping your cholesterol in check.

You asked about possible side effects. These include pancreatitis, stomach pain, muscular weakness, chest pain, dizziness, diarrhea, cough, headache
Some of these probems occur because you need to take Coenzyme Q 10 with any statin drug and yours is a statin medication. Statins cause a deficiency of this energy producing nutrient, once depleted it is difficult to replete without taking a supplement.

Only your doctor knows this and can answer your question. But this does give you some guidelines of what questions the doctor may ask you before making a decision of whether to discontinue the medication or not. I hope I was helpful. Kathryn Shattler, MS, RDN
