Should Masturbation Be Avoided After A Tonsillectomy?

I m 35, and Day 1 into my tonsillectomy. My doctor advised against strenuous activity, and I knew that included sex. But how about masturbation? Is that something I could safely do as I continue to heal? As an FYI, my blood pressure routinely sits at about 140/90 and has since I was a teenager. Thanks in advance for informed comments.
