Should Medication Be Continued When Pus Cells Count In Urine Has Reduced Substantially But Has Not Come Down To A Nil?

Hello. I m 20 weeks pregnant. When I have my first urinalysis, I have a Pus Cells, Over 100/HPF seen in clumps. So, my Obyg told me to take a Bactiv625 for 15 days and take another urinalysis after you finished taking it. So, I did. My result was that my Pus cells count is now, 12-15/HPF. Questions: 1. Should I still be worried about my latest Pus Cells count? 2. What s the normal count of Pus Cells?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Initially, you were having acute urinary tract infection so pus cells was very high. Now it's 10-12, so don't worry, gradually it will subside.

Normal pus cells in urine is up to 3-4 cells per high power field.

Repeat your urine routine microscopic examination after 3-5 days.

Take care.

Hope this will you.
