Should Medication Be Started For Cholesterol Being 264?

I have cholestrol level of 264. It is detected since last 3 years. I am 45 year old with BMI of 26, there is no any other medical complications to me, I do exercise but not regularly, do you think I should start Rosuvas 10 or Atorvas 10, which is better for above condition

Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

Your cholesterol level of 264 is elevated but not at the point to start medication. Unless, you have personal history of cardio-vascular event.

If no heart disease detected so far, then, I'd advise to continue therapeutic lifestyle changes (TLC) like:
- avoiding foods high in calories/oily or processed foods
- avoid high carb foods/drinks
- continue regular exercise (at least walking 30 minutes/day)
- eating more fruits/vegetables
- take supplements to lower high cholesterol.

With regards to Rosuvas 10, it is a statin containing the active ingredient Rosuvastatin; while Atorvas 10 contains the statin atorvastatin. Both can help reduce blood cholesterol levels. However, I'd advise to continue with TLC for the next 3 or 6 months, and decide to take either of them.

Hope it was of help!
