Should Medication For Blood Clot In Brain Be Taken Permanently?

My mother had a blod clot in her left side of the brain 5 years ago. She didn t undergone any surgery. She became well only by using the tablets prescribed the doctors. However, doctor suggested her to use the tablets for her lifetime. However, she stopped using those tablets 10 months ago, except the BP tablet. And she is keeping well now. Is that true that she should continue to use all those tablets for her lifetime. If we don t use those tabs for lifetime, will it cause any harm.

Hi,
I understand your concern.
Blood clotting is a normal phenomenon for preventing excessive bleeding.But when blood clot gets formed within a blood vessel...&gets dislodged once... it can happen again any time in life &can be fatal.To prevent such incidence in future the medication in suitable dose is ad used to be taken life long.
