Should One Experience Dead Cells After Stitches On Head Have Healed?

Doctor i had 17 stitches on my head after an accident on 10th sep 2010. The stitches were removed 10days back. Doctors told the crust and dead cells will fall on its own. But till date it has not happened and now they are asking me to get a surgeons opinion. Iam confused and do not know if i have to meet an plastic surgeon or Dermatologist. Please advise
