Should Plastic Teeth In An Infant Be Removed?

Hi. I have a nephew of two weeks old. The mother noticed plastic teeth growing and had a traditional medicine woman remove them. However, I read online that there is a myth that these teeth should be removed but modern doctors recommend that they don't be removed since they are part of teething. However, I need professional support on this.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain teeth grown within 2 weeks of the birth are called NeoNatal teeth and are not a part of teething..

But at times they can be milk teeth and no other milk tooth may erupt if they are removed..

As you have already got them removed, nothing can be done now, but still you should consult a Pedodontist and get evaluated as the prenatal teeth can be related to certain syndromes so better to
confirm that the neonate is healthy and disease free..

You can also get an x ray done to check for milk teeth buds are growing normally or not..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
