Should Salmonella Infection Be Treated?

Hello, I just got lab results indicating positive for Salmonella 1:20. I did have a serious case of vomiting last week (8 days ago) and mild fever, but feeling better (went to doctor and was having buscapin until 2 days ago). I believe I contracted that in Guatemala. My question is: Does it need to be treated with antibiotics or something else even if I feel better?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It would be best to treat with antibiotics to prevent carrier status developing.

A carrier is a person who does not have signs or symptoms of infection but can transmit the infection to other persons.

Your doctor can prescribe a course of medication for you.

I hope this helps
