Should Swelling With Bumps On Site Of A Sting Be A Cause Of Worry?

My son was riding his dirt bike and something stung him under his shirt. He didn t see anything in his shirt. He came home last night and the site is swollen and litlle other bumps are surrounding it. I has a lump underneath and is very painful. No fever or red streaks.

From your history and description, your son may have had an insect bite reaction with secondary infection. He may benefit from a course of antibiotics like cloxacillin taken for 5 days. You could also apply a topical antibiotic cream containing 2% mupirocin or fucidic acid.
