Should The Accumulated Phlegm In Chest Be Evacuated?
If I have just finished the prescription Doxycycline Hyclate 100 mg. for sinus infection I had 11 days with headaches and body fatigue and now it has gone down to my chest with some forced coughing to bring up thick phlegm, is it best to get something to move it out of my chest; We are leaving on a 12 day vacation 5 days from now. I have asthma.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your query if you have presence of thick phlegm that comes up when you force cough it off you can take mucolytics like Bromohexine or Ambroxol that will loosen the cough and ease in its removal.. You should also take decongestants like Pseudoephadrine [sudafed].. Do steam inhalations, warm saline gargles and do warm compresses over the chest.. Avoid chilled foods and also use a humidifier in your room.. In case if sill it do not get relieved consult a Pulmonologist and get evaluated and he can advise you to get a chest x -ray done to rule out the exact cause of the phlegm formation and treat you accordingly..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
