Should The Thigh "tumor" Be Removed Just After An X-ray And Examination?

Ok I have a lump on my upper outer part of my thigh. You can not see anything. but if you rub my leg you can feel the lump. If I walk any good distance it hurts shooting pain. if I drive more than thirty minuites it hurts. Sometimes this leg just gives out. Also I am experiencing fatigue like never before. I can't even put a whole days Wk in anymore where it was nothing for me to pull 12 hr days just months ago. I went to see an orthopedic today and he took an exray and scheduled surgery for thurs to remove this tumor as he called it. It is all happening to fast. Should I really let him cut open my leg after just an exray and exam?
