Should We Be Worried About The Sore Throat After Heart Attack?
My husband is 67years old, 155 lbs, very active fitness buff, never sick, very healthy eater and on no medication....that is until one week ago. He had a heart attack with 100% blockage of the right coronary artery. Put on Brilinta, Lipitor and 81 mg aspirin. Today, one week post heart attack, hedeveloped a sore throat. Should we be worried or is that totally unrelated? Want to be able to sleep tonight.
Hello, Thanks for writing to health care magic, I am Dr saleha saeed and I will try to explain things to you regarding your concerns. I have read your question closely, I hope you husband is doing well after the heart attack he suffered. The sore throat doesn't seem to be realted to the heart attack neither is there any drug which could have been causing this . It must be an unrelated simple even of sore throat. Here I would suggest you not to worry much but keep a close eye at how things are proceding , if sore throat is there you husband can take tylenol to relieve pain , if it keeps getting worsened or he starts getting fever he should consult the doctor because in this case he might require antiobiotics along with symptomatic treatment. After a proper checkup and possibly a few investigations.
I hope this answered your question if you have more you can ask me. Regards. Dr.Saleha
