Side Effects Of Taking Oracea And Spironolactone Long-term?

My dermatologist prescribed me oracea (40 mg/day) and spironolactone (50 mg/day) for my acne but didn't really explain any side effects to me whatsoever (was a really rushed appt.). I have no idea how long I have to take this medication for. Is it something I will have to take forever the rest of my life (which is not ideal for me) or something I take for a few months and it keeps acne at bay for a long while - sort of like accutane?? And, how long does it take to start working? Lastly, will I break out worse before I see improvement? He left the room w/o saying good bye and I didn't have a chance to ask him. :(
P.S. I have never taken that accutane before. I asked about Retina A and all he said was it would irritate my skin and that was it.

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
I can understand your concern, there are numbers of regime by which acne patient can be treated, if I would be your doctor then I would treat you with the following medicine and I would advise you to stop taking the other medicine which you are taking,
1) Tab Doxycycline 100 mg once in day for 3 weeks
2) erythromycin lotion for face application (continue this till you get the good result )
this is the initial regime which coves the infection then after this acne treatment started, hope this information helps you have nice day.
I find this answer helpful
