Since a motor vehicle accident in 2004, I have suffered with an essential tremor in my right hand diagnosed by a CAT scan as due to frontal lobe damage. It was so severe that I could not eat, drink, write or anything else that required a steady hand. I was prescribed carbidopa/levodopa which although it lessened the severity initially, it quickly lost any noticeable effectiveness. I have recently seen a different neurologist who prescribed primidone 25 mg and within a week of beginning the drug, the tremor has vanished. Why do you think that it took over 10 years for primidone to be prescribed to me for essential tremor?
