Sinus Infection, Hives And Itching, Tiredness. Was On Sulfamethoxazole And Benadryl. What Is Wrong?

Hi, may I answer your health queries? Please type your query here... I was one sulfamethoxazole for a sinus infection a month ago i did not finish the 10 days. I felt like i was getting my sinus infection back so I took a pill and about an hour later got very itchy hives all over! i took benedryl and now thinking after if that was ok to mix the 2. 2 1/2 hours later the hives have stopped itching. But feel very very tired. I am hoping it was ok to interact the 2 drugs.. Now i am so tired I could go to bed. Is that ok to feel this way

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.CM. Forum.
Sulfa drugs are most potent and it causes reaction .
As you mentioned that you took this tablet after a gap and develops itch & hives.
May be due to allergy ( reaction) of drug or due to allergic sinusitis.
As you got benedrl ( antihistamine ) & relief means both possibilities are there.
Anyhow , now you are symptom free so need not to worry.
Tiredness may be due to both above mentioned reason .
Get 1-2 tablets of painkiller and you will get relief.
