Sir: I've Had A Virus (I Think It's A Virus)

Sir: I've had a virus (I think it's a virus) for the eighth day now. I have had a lot of mucus in the sinus area, and at times a cough with (a few days ago) mucus that was greyish-yellow. That has disappeared. However, I still have a bit of dryish mucus in sinsuses, and a cough up a little sticky mucus. Question: how long will this take to clear up fully without antibiotics? Should I see a doctor? I have not had a fever this whole time. Many years ago, I let something like this go by, and it turned into bacterial pneumonia. I am a male, aged 66. Are there over-the-counter things I could take? Your thoughts?
