Skipping Heart Beat. No History Of Anything. Problem?

Hello. I am a very fit 52 year old male with no history of heart disease, diabetes, stroke, etc on either side of my family. Excercise daily, healthy diet, lifelong nonsmoker, 2-3 beers per week, no drug use; typically the most fit person in the room.

Recently I've been noticing my heart will go through periods of skipping every 6th beat. Problem?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Dear sir
Thanks for writing to us.
Do you noticed them by chance or you have any symptoms?i hope you never had blackout/ loss of consciousness/ shortness of breath or unexplained fall. if these symptoms are there , please see your cardiologist at priority.
Possibly the beats you feel are premature beats. the first thing required in their work-up is an ECG followed by ECHO and if your ECG shows premature beats, ECHO is normal & you do not have any symptoms, nothing is to be done. if ECHO is normal and yuo have some symptoms, it can be managed by a single drug.
In the meanwhile try to remain calm/relaxed, do not drink too much of tea/coffee. if you are taking any anti-asthma/common cold medicine, they may also cause this.
feel free to discuss further.
sincerely
