Small Bumps On Throat, Yellow In Color, Mild Pain. Is This The Cause For Concern?

I have small bumps in the back of my throat, they have been there for 2.5years, doctor said it's normal. They have now turned yellowish, and the right side of my soft palate has a yellow discoloration. The right side of my soft palate is hurting a little, like it usually does before I get a cold. I just want to know if I should be worried. I have been smoking for the last year, about 2packs a week.

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding small bumps in throat , yellow in color and they are little bit painful.

As per your clinical history it appears that most likely you are having chronic tonsillitis with acute exacerbation. Since you are having pain in throat means there is infection may be viral or bacterial.

For treatment point of view you should do-

1- Culture and sensitivity of throat swab.

2- Blood- CBC, ESR, blood sugar (F & PP), serum creatinin and SGPT.

For getting immediate relief you may take-

a- Tab Paracetamol.

b- Warm saline gargling.

c- Antacids.

d- Antibiotic- this will be decided later according to culture and sensitivity report.

I hope this will help you.

Regards.
