Small Lump In Roof Of Mouth, Very Hard. What Is It?

I ve had a small lump in the roof of my mouth for several weeks. Sometimes it feels like it s going. Other times it s very, very hard. The lump is always in the same place. Just now, following eating my lunch, I pressed my thumb nail into it - something I ve done a lot. But this time it actually burst! There was no pain or blood or anything like that. What is/was it?

Hello there...hard lumps in the palate(roof of your mouth) surely requires clinical examination...swellings in the palate can be inflammatory, benign or malignant.... If it is from a decayed upper tooth the swelling would appear in the palate based upon the curvature of your roots...more palatally inclined the roots more the chances of infections spreading palatally and manifests in the form of swelling that would remain soft initially and turn firm to hard in consistency...There are various minor salivary glands in the palate ..Tumors of these glands would as well result in the swellings....Clinical examination is mandatory..Consult a Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in your area for expert opinion and management.
