Small Lump On The Top Of The Foot, Pain On Walking, Getting Bigger In Size. Causes?
On Sunday I noticed a pain when walking after a short while. I found I had a small lump on the top of my foot , approx midway between my ankle and the toes, you would get to it if you traced your finger from the space between my small toe and the next toe mid way up before arriving at the ankle, not sure if I ve explained it very well. Now it really hurst to walk at times, and it really hurst if I touch the lump, and the lump has got bigger. Any idea what it could be?
Lump in this area of the foot maybe due to a soft tissue infection or cellulitis, if it accumulates pus unddrneath the skin it will increase in size and gives more pain. It can also be an infected insect bite or scratch wound if you remember having bitten or scratched in this area. Pain reliever can help but it would need an antibiotic if it is due to a bacterial infection. See a doctor if pain reliever does little help or if you suspect an infection so that an antibiotic be started.
Thank you,
Dr. Eric
