Small Red Bump On Leg, Spreading To Groin, Anus, Formation Of Pus Pockets. History Of Stroke. Medical Emergency?
My father in law who had a stroke but is not bed ridden had a small red bump show up on his leg around where his diaper is. Within 24 hours it spread down to his groin area and has formed small puss pockets. Within the next 24 hours it has now spread down to his anus . Any ideas of what this could be? And should we take him to the emergency room?
Hi thanks for your question.
The swelling which you mentiong on the upper part of thigh and spreading to groin could be a boil (infected hair follicle) .This boil is now spreading leading to cellulitis (inflammation of surrounding structure).
Since it has pockets of puss inside, you father in law need to see a general surgeon ,who can drain the puss and put him on antibiotics .
Hope this answers your question.
