Smoker. Took Abortion Pills. Will Smoking Block The Process?
Hi I took the abortion pills last Monday and then the 4 inserted on last Wednesday. I just read that smoking may block how well it can work...I only smoked maybe 1-2 the night of but several the next day. I was very emotional and my dr had asked and I answered truthfully and she never said there were any risks of complications due to smoking after the process..... I am scared that it did not work now and that I will have to have the procedure in the end. I've already been heartbroken and had to do this due to medical issues that would have made it too dangerous for the baby.....
Hello Thanks for your query. Smoking does reduce the efficacy of abortion pills. However, you can only confirm if the process was complete by having a review ultrasound after 15 days. There is no point in stressing out till then. Even if the abortion was incomplete, you can use further pills or resort to surgical abortion to complete it. Please do not panic. All the best
