Son Suffering From Pain Due To Cotton Bud Pushed In Ear. What Should I Do?

Hi Yesterday My 2 year old son pushed a cotton bud in to his ear, he cried for 5 mins or so and has complained of pain a couple of times but is otherwise fine. This morning I noticed some dried blood around his ear entrance. Should I go to A & E or see his normal GP tomorrow? He has no further pain. Many thanks.

Hi. It would certainly a good idea to visit a Doctor. The blood can be due to trauma to the skin of the canal as the bud are large enough to reach the ear drum in a two year-old child. Yet It would be better to be confirmed by an ENT Specialist whether the drum is normal or not. Please do not put anything in the ears.
