Sonomammography Revealed Many Masses On Both Breast. Ordered Digital Mammography. What Does It Mean?

Hi. I just had sonomammography revealing 15 masses on the right breast and 13 masses on the left. I was ordered to have digital mammography with these assessment: isodense masses with fairly defined borders in both breasts, bilateral; round calcifications, left breast. BI_RADS category 0 - needs additional evaluation; moderately scattered fibroglandular parenchyma. What does this mean?

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Your sonomammography report suggests that there is mass lesion in both breasts.
There are various causes of mass lesions in breast.
You need digital mammography. It is computerized one and contrast is much better than conventional one so that lesion can be diagnosed in better way.

Your report suggests that lesions are isodense in nature means same density of breast tissue. Also these lesions have well delineated borders and have round calcifications in left breast.According to above mentioned findings it falls in category BI_RADS 0. There is also moderate proliferation of fibroglandular tissues.
It needs further evaluation.

Get well soon.
