Sore Pimple On Chest With Large Red Base, Painful Yellow Head Oozing Clear Liquid. Any Thoughts?
I got a sore pimple on my chest in August, it slowly grew, and I thought it was a boil...large red base with a very painful yellow head. The head came off, but what was under it oozes a smelly clear liquid, and is still painful. I am out of work & insurance or I would have gone to the doctor by now, any advice?
Hello Thanks for the query to HCM. This painful swelling or red bump may be . 1 Carbuncle , as this is most common cause over chest as described by you . Get in blood sugar examination . You didn't mention the age , which is very important in this case. 2 Ingrown hair infection is another such cause , so consult a physician/ surgeon and get his opinion as physical examination play an important role in this case. 3 Abscess , as described by you this may be an abscess due to frunculosis or pyoderma . Diagnosis can be confirmed after consultation with a dermatologist . In my opinion you must consult a dermatologist as earliest and sort this problem. Good luck. Dr. HET
