Sore Throat, Bruised Tongue, White Spots On Tonsils

I have had a sore throat for about 3 weeks but do not have a cold, although it began with a cold and stuffy nose . When I swallow , it feels like the back of my throat or tongue is bruised. I cannot see any white coating or spots on my tonsils, but the left side does bother me more than the right. While I do not have a consistent ear ache, it has been bothering me.

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

From the details mentioned,i suspect the inflammation may have occurred due to-tonsillitis.

I would advice you to get a thorough clinical evaluation by an ENT specialist.

Depending on the severity of inflammation, either tonsillectomy or antibiotics has to be administered.

Meanwhile,avoid consuming cold fluids.

Gargle frequently with lukewarm saline.

Hope this helps.
