Sore Throat, Difficulty In Swallowing, Bad Cough, Dark Yellow Mucus. What Is Wrong?
I woke up yesterday with a sore throat and difficult swallowing ... as the day progress it got to the point where I was coughing very badly and I was hacking up dark yellow mucus and today its a worse cough and It brings me pain in my chest every time I cough.. and now the mucus is dark brown... what can I do to get rid of this and what is it... kathryn

Welcome to HCM forum.
It does seem to be a severe respiratory tract infection.
Please do not neglect your symptoms especially if there is any brown or coffee ground expectoration .
It might cause spread of infection to your lungs and needs prompt medical attention.
It might need a course of antibiotics along with supportive antiinflammatory drugs and mucolytics .
I would recommend you consult your doctor as soon as feasible for confirming the diagnosis and starting appropriate treatment .
