Sore Throat, Swelling, Redness, Pain On Swallowing, Flesh Colored Lump On Tonsil. Serious Symptoms?

Hi I ve had a soar throat for the third day in a row. It s not like any soar throat I m used to though, it s only on the left side and it s red n swollen and hurts mainly when I swallow . After day two I noticed a flesh colored lump on the inside of the left tonsil . Now I m just scared it s something more serious... It also hasnt gotten better or worse. It all started after being in a smokey bar..I m also young and healthy and a nonsmoker as of 2 months ago. What could this be?!

Emergency Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi Tigerlily,
Thanks for writing your query.
You should have the following tests done:-
1. Throat swab culture
2. Complete Blood Count
You should get yourself examined by an ENT specialist and take, under medical supervision, antihistaminic like Fenofexadine along with decongestants like Phenylepherine or Pseudoephedrine along with some anti-inflammatory medicines. Antibiotic can be started as per the throat swab culture report.
Also do warm saline gargles.
I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks.
