Sore Throat, Swollen Tonsils, Headaches, Upper Respiratory Infection. Taken Z-pac, Cold Sores. Cure?
Wednesday I came down with a swollen tonsils, sore throat , fever, Full body achieness and massive headaches. I went to the VA hospital seeking assistance. I was diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection with swollen tonsils and given a Z-pac and Robitussin DM. The fever is gone, and the tonsils seems to be reduced. The other symptoms have disappeared. But I have noticed that I have developed a cold sore (which I used to get). I have also noticed sensitivity and swelling on my hard palate . When I took a picture I noticed small ulcers.

Hi and welcome,
You are suffering from acute pharyngitis and infective tonsillitis , caused due to inflammation of mucous membrane lining the throat, it is usually bacterial or viral infection.
Since you have been prescribed with medicines and your are responding well i suggest you to continue with the course.
Formation of ulcers and inflammed hard palate, cold sores may be secondary effect due to dehydration and dificiency of vitamins.
you can start with multivitamin supplements or vitamin c lozenges for 5 to 7 days which heal up the ulcers.
Mouth gargling with antiseptic mouth wash like chlorhexindine will give soothing effect ,prevents infection and promotes faster healing of ulcers.
