I AM 41 YEARS FEMALE,MIR REPORT OF MY SPINE SHOWS THE FOLLOWING DISCREPANCIES:

LOW LYING TETHERED CORD SEENCONUS ENDS AT L3
A SMALL SYRINX IS SEEN AT D 12 LEVEL.
CORD IS VERTICALLY SPLIT INTO TWO HALVES AT D12-LI S/O DIASTEMATOMYELIA
FATTY FILUM TERMINATE SEEN
I HAVE BACKACHE AND LEG PAIN FROM LAST 1 YEAR ,DOCTORS HAVE ADVISE ME FOR SPINAL SURGERY KINDLY ADVISE THAT THIS SURGERY IS NECESSARY AND SAFE.

Yes you do need to undergo the surgery and please ask your neurosurgeon about the possible complications related to the surgical procedure.
As far as MRI repost is concerned the findings provided points to a developmental problem of your spinal cord and it needs to be corrected surgically.
