Spotting, Cramps, Pain In Lower Side Of Pelvic Area During Early Stage Of Pregnancy. Should I Be Worried?

Hi,
I found out that i'm pregnant this morning with a home pregnancy test but this afternoon i noticed some light brown/pink discharge. I have had mild cramps for the last couple of weeks and a pain in the lower left side of my pelvic area over the last 2 days, it isn't constant, it comes and goes. Is this something to worry about?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
The possible causes for your spotting are :
- Staring of menstrual flow in case of false positive pregnancy test.
-Impending abortion.
-Possibility of ectopic pregnancy.
- In normal pregnancy also, spotting can be seen due to different causes like implantation etc.

So, consult gynecologist once and get evaluated.
After confirming the pregnancy and ruling out other possibilities, you can go for progesterone supplementation that can control the spotting to some extent.
Taking rest, avoiding lifting weights, journeys, intercourse etc are needed.
Take care.
