Stomach Upset, Abdominal Cramps After Stopping Birth Control. Pregnancy Test Positive. What Is Happening?

Hi. I am two weeks late for my period, although i have just come off the pill so this is a calculation of when it should have come. I have had an upset stomach for 4 days, felt queasy and generally run down i took a pregnancy test yesterday which was faint positive. This morning it was negative. I have cramps that feel like menstral cramps. Could you advise me?

Dear user, welcome to healthcare magic.
The symptoms you mention are not conclusive and we cannot diagnose pregnancy from them. Also the home pregnancy test is not accurate enough.
I suggest you cut short by doing a blood sample for hcg.
If the test is positive, you should start Folic acid supplementation and visit your doctor to document presence of a healthy intrauterine pregnancy by ultrasound and exclude ectopic.
If the test is negative then there is no pregnancy. You can either wait for spontaneous menstruation or visit your doctor to prescribe you progesterone to induce menstruation.
Good luck.
Dr. Ahmed Bahaa.
