String Like Substance, Looking Like Worm After Blowing Nose. Any Ideas?
In the last week, I've blown my my nose and on two occasions, a small, 1-1.5 cm string-like substance came out and almost looks like a small, brown worm. No discomfort, no blood, no movement or activity. I am otherwise very healthy, good diet, have never had any nasal or sinus problems and do not get sick with any ailments in the past 30+ years. I am 52 years old, male. Thank you.
Hi, seems like you have infection in any of the sinuses on the side from which that brown string like thing came because of pent up secretions in that sinus. The other possibility can be a mass blocking partially or completely that nostril and pent up secretions getting thickened, viscous and string like and coming out by blowing. See an ENT and may need a CT PNS. Take a course of antibiotics, mucolytics and nasal decongestants. Regards
