Stroke, Weak, Speech Ok, Cough With Mucus, Diabetic. Cure?
My mother in law suffered a stroke three weeks ago. Her speach was ok even though she looked week. Initially because of the cough it was not easy to have her pressure taken because she kept on caughing. Even every time she tried to eat anything she coughed continuously, we could also notice that she coughed a noticeable amount of mucus . What could be causing this and is there a cure? Note she is also diabetic.

Since she has suffered a stroke and she is coughing continuously, it may be because of cranial nerves involvement. She may be choking herself on her food or even on her own saliva which is causing this cough. Or she may have developed aspiration pneumonia after the stroke if her level of consciousness was low. You should consult a neurologist and a pulmonologist and get her investigated and treated.
