Strong, Frequent Twitching Of Eyes. No Pain. Serious?
Hi for the past 4 months I have a strong teetching, like muscular jump in the right eye. It is quite often 5 ,6 times a day. it doesn't hurt, but it is alarming cause it not going away. I looked in the miror when it happens and the muscle around the eye is really going back & forth, contracting toward the interior. Should I be alarmed...
Eyelid twitching is very common. There are several causes for the same. Eyelid muscle contractions can be triggered by- Stress, tiredness, lack of sleep, eye strain (by prolonged computer use etc), caffeine, alcohol, nutritional imbalances, dry eyes, allergies etc. Rarely they could be a sign of an underlying neurological disorder but this is unusual. These conditions have to be diagnosed and treated by an Ophthalmologist.
Hope this helps, Dr Anjana rao
