Stuffy Nose With Dark Green Mucus And Horrible Smell
My 3 yr old daughter has had a stuffy nose for a couple days but all of a sudden has turned into this really thick dark green mucus that smells so horrible the smell alone will make you want to vomit and it's so strong my entire daughter smells like it. So is this becoming a very serious infection or is there another reason behind this and what can I do.

Regarding your query for green coloured fowl smelling nasal discharge in your 3 years old daughter, I would like to say no doubt it is infection of nose, though your daughter is quite young and her sinuses are in developing phase, but whatever the stage of sinuses are appear to be involved.
Green discharge most of the times seen in pseudomonas infection but confirmation of infection is always by culture test.
You are advice for these basic investigations which will pay important role in treatment
1- Culture and sensitivity of nasal discharge.
2- Gram's staining of nasal discharge.
3- X-Ray chest & X-Ray of paranasal sinuses.
By the help of inferences of above investigations and their clinical co-relation with physical examination one may make the diagnosis and simultaneously plan for treatment.
