Suffer From Allergies. When Blowing Nose, Have Huge Lump. Painful While Swallowing. Did Tonsils Removal. Suggestions?
I suffer from allergies and I have been having a lot of plugged nasal passage problems. Now, here is the gross part. Sorry for this, I was trying to clear my nose passages by blowing my nose, and forcefully sucking in air through my nose in my throat. While doing this I felt like the back of my throat balloon up and now I have this huge lump in front of the dangly thingy in the back of my throat. It is very visible in the mirror when I use a light to look. There is very little pain, but it gets in the way while swallowing (a little). I have no issues with choking or breathing. Will this thing go away or should I make an appointment. My tonsils were removed at age 4. I do not use tobacco. I am morbidly obese, though very good looking (fat guy humor). No other injuries or surgeries to my throat to note. OH! I also use a C-Pap at a pressure of 18.
There several measures to get rid of allergies and the best option is to avoid the allergens (if this is clearly identifiable) or else anti allergic medication which are mostly antihistaminic has to be used under prescription by your family Doctor however the way you described the symptoms (huge lump etc) one has to do thorough check up that is done by an ENT to rule out other possibility eg Polyps etc and if required it may be necessary to get these surgically treated if advised by an expert ENT surgeon With best wishes Dr Chowhan
