Hello Penny, Welcome to healthcare magic. You seem to be having chronic idiopathic urticaria. It presents with hives which disappear spontaneously and reappear after a few hours to days. In 90% of cases, it is difficult to identify a cause. In another 10%, it could be attributed to a food item, new medications, sweating , cold, chronic infection like a tooth caries. You have to rule out these causes. You could continue taking antihistamines for a long time as they are safe. It is difficult to predict when you will be completely cured. Hope this helped. Take care.
