Suffer From Hypertension Since Adolescence. Not On Mediation. Advice?

hi! im jude. when i was 16yo my BP is 160/100. i dont take any medication despite of my elevated BP. im athlete during that time..
now im already 48yo, i had a chance to visit a clinic. BP was taken revealed 170/100. U/A shows sugar +4. further test is advised to me by a doctor FBS, Lipid panel, creatinine, BUN, Na, K ECG 12L.
my question is, is it normal to have a BP of 160/100 with that age in an athlete?

Dear sir
Welcome to Health Care magic.
Thanks for writing in.
According to guidelines( JNC7)
The normal blood pressure for any one is >120/80 to More than 140/90 called as hypertension.
For you it is 160/ 100, this is severe hypertension.
Hypertension it self does not have any symptoms but in long term it will damage heart, kidneys, eyes, and brain stroke.
So should definitely need medication for hypertension.
thank you.
