Hi there, thanks for asking. As you mentioned cocaine and speed can be harmful for the brain function which is much more probable in chronic use. They can cause mood swing (moods of highs and lows) and also can lead to impulsive behaviors (like gambling and aggressiveness). They could also cause vascular problems and might even lead to heart damage. They are good non-pharmacological methods for cocaine and speed (methamphetamine) abstinence (like method of matrix) which you can ask your doctor to refer you. You can easily prevent your mood from highs and lows and I am happy that you are aware of that. I wish you the best health.

Psychiatrist Dr. Sundar Gnanavel's  Response
Hello
Thanks for your query. Bipolar disorder and drug abuse go hand in hand one leading to the other and leading to a vicious cycle. Hence I would suggest that you break the cycle by seeking treatment for heroin and cocaine abuse. I would suggest you undergo a thorough evaluation for both substance use and other psychiatric disorders including bipolar disorder. Effective medication and psychotherapy techniques are available to address the issues. Wish you speedy recovery.
