Suffered A Heart Attack. Triple Bypass Done, Had A Stroke. MRI Shows Brain Vasculitis. Prognosis?

My sister had a heart attack on Tuesday of last week , tests showed she needed triple bypass, surgery went well and she was recovery, then she went to sleep on Sunday and haven t woke up since, she is back on ventilator and they claim she may have had a stroke and MRI showed Vasculitis in the brain, do you think she will wake up?

Thank you for your query.

I feel very sorry for your sister's current condition. Actually it's very difficult to answer the question regarding her wake up.

Any patient put on ventilator is in grave condition. What is her current pulse oximetry ? Whether her BP is well maintained or on ionotropes support ? ECG pattern? Perfusion status ? Electrolytes and Acid-base status ? Got any infection like septicaemia ? Types of Stroke and Sites of involvment ? These are the very few things that will determine her wake up.

If her vitals are fine, Infection is well controlled, Organs are well perfused, No Ischaemic hepatic or kidney injury and no major brain damage; then she will definitely wake up. Some patients wake up and go to vegetative state which is so painful for the family.

Pray to GOD and Let docs do their duties.
